Microdermabrasion results at Skin&Co, Mississauga

An old treatment that still earns its place, provided nobody claims it does more than it does.

Microdermabrasion in Mississauga

Microdermabrasion mechanically removes the outermost layer of dead skin using a controlled abrasive tip and vacuum. That immediately improves brightness and smoothness, and it helps anything applied afterwards penetrate better.

It is a surface treatment and it is honest about that. Dullness, rough texture and mild congestion respond well. Scarring, deep lines and pigment sitting in the deeper skin do not, and we will point you elsewhere for those rather than sell a course.

What it treats

What microdermabrasion
treat well.

And a few things they do not. If your concern is not here, the consultation is where we work out what would actually help.

Concerns treated by microdermabrasion in MississaugaSkin and Resurfacing
  1. Dullness and rough texture

The main indication, with visible improvement from the first session.

  2. Mild congestion

    Surface blockage and blackheads.

  3. Preparing skin for other treatments

Frequently used before a course of peels or as part of a longer programme.

  4. Product absorption

Removing surface build up genuinely improves how well actives penetrate.

  5. Body areas

The back and chest, where it is often more practical than other options.

When we say no

When we decline
microdermabrasion.

We do not treat in these situations, and we will say so in the consultation, which you are not charged for.

  • Active inflammatory acne or rosacea flares, which abrasion aggravates.
  • Active infection or cold sores.
  • Recent sunburn or compromised skin.
  • Recent resurfacing or peels, until healing is complete.
  • Anyone hoping to treat scarring or deep pigment. It is the wrong tool and we will say so.
  • Skin on isotretinoin, which is too fragile.

Questions

Microdermabrasion
questions, answered.

The Skin&Co consultation room in Mississauga
Is microdermabrasion still worth having?

For dullness, rough texture and mild congestion, yes. It is reliable, comfortable and has no downtime. For anything deeper there are better tools and we will recommend them.

How is it different from a peel?

Microdermabrasion removes surface cells mechanically. A peel works chemically and can be taken deeper. Peels do more, with more downtime.

How many sessions will I need?

Four to six, two to four weeks apart, then maintenance. Improvement is cumulative.

Does it hurt?

No. It feels like a mild sandpaper texture with gentle suction. Most people find it comfortable.

Can I wear makeup afterwards?

Yes, the same day, though skin is more sun sensitive so protection matters.

Will it help my acne scars?

No. Scarring needs microneedling or resurfacing, and we would rather direct you there.
