The question that matters is not which laser, it is which settings for your skin. That is a clinical decision, and it is where most poor results come from.

Laser hair removal in Mississauga

Laser hair removal targets pigment in the hair follicle, heating it enough to disable future growth. It works on hair in its active growth phase, which is why it takes a course: at any one time only a portion of your follicles are in that phase.

Skin type matters more than most clinics admit. The right wavelength and settings for fair skin are not the right ones for deeper skin tones, and getting that wrong causes burns or pigment change. Being assessed by a dermatology led team is the point of having this done here.

What it treats

What laser hair removal
treat well.

And a few things they do not. If your concern is not here, the consultation is where we work out what would actually help.

Concerns treated by laser hair removal in MississaugaLaser and Energy
  1. Face and upper lip

Fine work, shorter sessions, and the area where settings need the most care.

  2. Underarms

Quick, well tolerated, and one of the most satisfying areas to treat.

  3. Legs

Longer sessions, dramatic results, and the area people most often wish they had started sooner.

  4. Bikini and Brazilian

Common, straightforward, and treated with the same clinical care as anywhere else.

  5. Back and chest

Frequently requested by men, and usually a shorter course than expected.

  6. Ingrown hairs and folliculitis

A genuinely medical reason for treatment, and often the one that matters most.

S&C

How it works

How laser hair removal work
at Skin&Co.

Four steps, in this order. Nothing is treated until it has been assessed, and nothing is repeated until it has been reviewed.

Laser Hair Removal in Mississauga, step 1: skin assessment
01

Skin assessment

We establish your skin type and any pigment history. This determines wavelength and settings, and it is the step that prevents burns.

Results

and when to expect them.

Settings chosen for your skin. The step that separates a good result from a burn.
Day 0

Session day

Mild redness and a warm feeling, like sunburn, for a few hours. No downtime and you can return to normal activity immediately.

Day 7 to 14

Shedding

Treated hairs shed. This looks like regrowth and is not. It is the follicle releasing the hair.

Week 4 to 8

Next session

New follicles enter the growth phase and become treatable. This is why the interval exists.

After the course

Substantial reduction

Most people see a large permanent reduction rather than total removal. Occasional maintenance keeps it there.

When we say no

When we decline
laser hair removal.

We do not treat in these situations, and we will say so in the consultation, which you are not charged for.

  • Recent sun exposure or a tan, including self tan. We reschedule rather than risk a burn.
  • Certain medications that increase light sensitivity, which we screen for.
  • Blonde, red, grey or white hair, which has too little pigment for the laser to target. We will tell you rather than sell a course that cannot work.
  • Active infection or inflammation in the treatment area.
  • Pregnancy, as a precaution.
  • A history of pigment change after inflammation, until we have discussed the risk honestly.

Questions

Laser Hair Removal
questions, answered.

The Skin&Co consultation room in Mississauga
How many sessions will I need?

Six to eight for most areas, spaced four to eight weeks apart. Coarser hair often needs fewer, finer hair more.

Is laser hair removal permanent?

It gives permanent reduction rather than permanent removal. Most people keep a large proportion of the result indefinitely with occasional maintenance.

Does it work on darker skin?

Yes, with the right wavelength and settings. That is precisely why the skin assessment matters and why a patch test is not optional here.

Does it hurt?

A brief snap per pulse, with cooling. Most areas are very tolerable. The upper lip and bikini are the most sensitive.

Can I shave between sessions?

Yes, shaving is fine and in fact required before each session. Do not wax, pluck or thread, as the laser needs the follicle intact.

Why do I need a patch test?

Because settings that are safe on one skin type burn another. Any clinic willing to treat you in full without one is taking a risk with your skin.
